Used tyres and waste rubber recycling

Used tyres and waste rubber

recycling

W u W Wertstoff und Wastehandel GmbH is a company that has been active in the field of waste disposal throughout Europe for over 20 years. We collect and dispose of used tyres and rubber professionally and at favourable conditions. In Germany alone, around 600,000 tonnes of used tyres and approx. 250,000 tonnes of waste rubber accumulate every year. The amount of used tyres produced throughout Europe is 3.3 million tonnes per year.

The recycling and disposal routes for used tyres throughout Europe are as follows:

  • Used tyre trade and export 10%
  • retreading 8 %
  • Material recycling 40
  • Energetic recovery 38
  • Other 4 %

We take over the disposal of all kinds of tyres, no matter whether earth machine tyres ( EM ), tractor tyres ( AS ), aircraft tyres, truck tyres, car tyres or motorcycle tyres, etc.

It does not matter whether the tyres are rollable, shredded, with minimal profile, quartered, torn, burnt, with or without rim!

With the waste rubber it does not matter whether it is < 1.40 meters or > 1.40 meters.

We offer you a legally compliant recycling

We have been dealing with the recycling of used tyres and waste rubber for over 20 years. We would like to point out that, in principle, we take every used tyre into our hands and sort it according to the following criteria!

Used tyre trade for export

Undamaged used tyres with sufficient profile > 1.6 mm (in our company > 2.5 mm) are sorted out for export in a specialist waste disposal company Efb § 56, the selection is subject to strict controls.

Material recycling ( granulation ) will be assigned to material recycling from 2019!!

Unlike thermoplastics, rubber cannot simply be melted down. In addition, tyres are constructed in such a way that they are as resistant, tough and durable as possible.

It is precisely these properties that make the recycling of used tyres very costly.

To be able to separate used tyres into their three components (rubber, steel and fibres), the rubber fraction must be crushed to a grain size of approx. 5 mm. To date, there is no machine or plant that can do this in a single process step. Waste tyre recycling plants usually include at least three crushing steps: pre-crushing, granulation and fine grinding.

Energy recovery

This is mainly done in cement works, the scrap tyres are either made available to the cement works on wheels or shredded and used as substitute fuel, whereby the steel present in the scrap tyres serves as a mineral substitute for iron ore.

Road and path construction

Here, waste rubber shredded to a certain edge length or unusable used tyres are mainly used.

Pyrolysis ( mainly burnt-on used tyres )

The principle of scrap tyre pyrolysis is to heat whole or pre-crushed tyres to 400 to 600 °C, excluding atmospheric oxygen, so that thermal decomposition of the rubber component and the textile inserts occurs. The products of scrap tyre pyrolysis are:

  • Pyrolysis gases
  • pyrolysis oils
  • pyrolysis coke
  • steel fibers

Strictly speaking, pyrolysis is nothing more than a special form of energy recovery because the majority of the products (gas, oil and coke) are not used as materials but as energy.
